This book appears to have been geared towards the younger reader. As the title suggests it isn't necessarily a history of Kentucky but instead is a loosely chronological collection of anecdotes and stories about people more than events that shaped the state.
There are some colorful stories here and you will gain some insight into the more cultural and social aspects of early colonial life and early statehood life in Kentucky. Many of the stories, however, are farily meaningless and offer nothing towards the collective good of telling the story of Kentucky.
I am from Kentucky and enjoyment has been all I have experienced since I have purchased this book it is a wonderful way for me to share the history of my state I love with the people I love.
This was an okay read , you could tell the author loved her subject.
Well written, enjoyable and informative, if one is not offended by the term "darkie," or the ongoing battles between thee"barbarous savages" and the noble frontiersman!
